Does Superman break the laws of physics?
Superman vs momentum
A physics educator checked Superman’s heroics against the laws of momentum, and Superman does not always win.
Superheroes are a great way to get students interested in physics. This paper picks Superman, because so many of his feats involve stopping, catching or shoving enormous things, and checks them against the rules of impulse and momentum.
Plenty of his rescues quietly break those rules, which makes him the perfect teaching example. Faster than a speeding bullet, but not faster than a physics teacher with a red pen.
Even the Man of Steel has to answer to Newton.
