Can Angry Birds teach you physics?
Teaching physics with Angry Birds: exploring the kinematics and dynamics of the game
Two physics teachers analysed video of Angry Birds launches to study the game’s gravity and motion.
Researchers in Portugal recorded the paths of birds catapulted across the screen in Angry Birds and analysed them frame by frame with video-analysis software, just as you would a real thrown ball.
The birds follow neat projectile curves, so the game makes a cheerful classroom lab for measuring speed and in-game gravity. Homework has never involved so many grumpy pigs.
Physics class, now with slingshots.
