Does wearing red help you win?
Red enhances human performance in contests
At the 2004 Olympics, fighters randomly given red kit won more often than those in blue.
In Olympic boxing, taekwondo and wrestling, competitors are randomly assigned red or blue. Two anthropologists looked at the results from the 2004 Athens Olympics to see whether colour made a difference.
Across sports, wearing red was linked to winning more often, especially when the opponents were evenly matched. In many animals, red is a signal of dominance, and it seems humans may be susceptible too. Teams in red are now feeling very smug.
If in doubt, wear red.
