Why is Rudolph’s nose red?
Why Rudolph’s nose is red: observational study
Reindeer noses are packed with blood vessels, which could explain a certain famous glow.
Researchers used a special microscope to look at blood flow in the noses of reindeer and humans. Reindeer noses have a very dense network of tiny blood vessels, about 25% more than ours.
This helps them keep their noses warm in freezing temperatures. It also makes a scientifically respectable case for a red-nosed reindeer.
Rudolph isn’t odd. Rudolph is beautifully well-circulated.
