Using the same kind of equations epidemiologists use for real diseases, the authors modelled what happens when the dead start rising and biting.

Their conclusion: unless we act quickly and cleverly, the zombies win. It became a classic way to teach how outbreak modelling works. (Yes, the last author really does put a question mark in his name.)
