What if internet addresses were deliberately unreadable?
The Internationalized Deliberately Unreadable Network NOtation (I-DUNNO)
An April Fools’ internet standard for writing IP addresses as baffling strings of symbols that humans can’t read.
Computers find things by IP addresses, and people sometimes read and type them. This April Fools’ document proposes a way to encode those addresses as jumbles of international characters, so that humans simply can’t.
It even defines official levels of confusion, from minimum to “Delightful Confusion”. The acronym was clearly chosen first, and the rest of the words were bravely made to fit.
What’s the server address? I-DUNNO.
