Can a Harry Potter book keep kids out of hospital?
Harry Potter casts a spell on accident prone children
Emergency doctors noticed fewer injured kids turned up on the weekends new Harry Potter books came out.
A team at an Oxford hospital looked at how many children came into the emergency department with injuries on summer weekends. Two of those weekends happened to be the release dates of Harry Potter books.
On those weekends, noticeably fewer kids arrived hurt. The authors’ theory: children were indoors, lying very still, reading 700 pages of wizard drama instead of falling off things.
Possibly the only time a book has been recommended as injury prevention.
