Norwegian doctors offered leeches a choice of human hands coated in garlic, beer or soured cream. Garlic was surprisingly attractive.
The leeches that went for the beer-covered hand reportedly showed “unsteady” movement. The paper is part folk-medicine test, part very good Christmas-issue joke.
