Why do small wet animals shake so fast?
Wet mammals shake at tuned frequencies to dry
High-speed cameras showed that the smaller a wet animal is, the faster it has to shake to get dry.
Researchers filmed wet mice, cats, dogs, bears and more doing that full-body wiggle, using high-speed cameras, and measured how fast each one shook.
Small animals have to shake much faster than big ones to fling the water off, and a dog can lose most of the water in its fur in a few seconds. Please stand well back from the splash zone.
Shake it off, at exactly the right frequency.
