On Halloween, seven households offered 284 trick-or-treaters aged 3 to 14 a choice between sweets and comparably sized little toys.
Children were just as likely to choose a toy as a sweet, with no difference between boys and girls. Good news for anyone worried a toy will be a disappointment: the spooky small people seem perfectly happy either way.
