Can one cut split a sandwich perfectly every time?

Generalized “sandwich” theorems

A maths proof that you can always slice a ham sandwich with one straight cut so the bread, ham and cheese are each split exactly in half.

Two mathematicians generalised a famous puzzle: given a few lumpy objects in space, can a single flat cut divide every one of them into two equal halves at the same time?

The answer is yes, which is why it’s known as the ham sandwich theorem. However messily you’ve piled the bread, ham and cheese, one perfect cut exists. Finding it with a butter knife is left as an exercise for the reader.
